Bear Grease

Helped a buddy process a bear he got in the UP, got some fat in return. Have always wanted to try rendering it down into oil!

I helped drag one out and got some to use after my lucky friend rendered it. I found it took the heat well and I didn't think the flavor was very strong. Also, I recall it's a winner for pie crusts or biscuits, but I never tried to make them with the jar I had.

I really like the stuff myself. Have never killed a bear but I got some fat from one we mounted at work. It's nice.

I heard that it’s good in pastries. Might talk nice to the wife and see if an apple pie is in my future.

Chill it and it works good for waterproofing boots.

I use it to fry my fish, it's very good lard.
