Auction tag money put to good use.

Until the pneumonia is under control and the cat population is reduced considerably, I'm afraid all the release will do is provide an expensive meal for the predators. Yes, I was, and remain, against the auction tag.

Looks like another auction tag coming to South Dakota.

Love the following quote from the article.

" ... increase to the number of licenses being proposed in Custer State Park will not negatively affect the viewability of bighorn sheep for park visitors."

IIRC, the first $87K goes to sheep and the rest to pheasants. Someone check my work.

This is from the Wild Sheep Foundation Midwest Chapter page for the 2020 tag.
It just makes my brain hurt to think of the majority of that sheep auction money being spent on some private land pheasant habitat program outside someplace like Woonsocket, SD.

Governors know best.

I am curious how pissed the 2021 auction tag winner was? I never did hear how it turned out for him. He wrote a check for $312k and a few months later the targeted herd was decimated by disease.
