Attack on the Feds independence

I can’t believe how many “small government” types are totally fine with a federal police force with a budget bigger than the Israeli military operating under complete immunity at the presidents whim. If you somehow don’t think this is overreach, you have to recognize the potential for future abuse when the shoe is on the other foot.
How did it get here though?

The last 15 years is relevant.

If you want to feel better about the leadership of our country, yesterday Trump held a long press conference.

We learned his mother told him he could be a pro baseball player.

First you have to define illegal.
Illegal immigrant:
refers to a non-citizen living in a country without legal authorization, typically by entering without inspection, overstaying a valid visa, or violating visa conditions.

Go ahead, let's hear how you would accomplish the removal.

Your silence on a simple question is just like the "what is a woman" question. I bet you don't have an answer to that one either.

Do you know what the role of ICE is???
Seems to be terrorizing Americans. The Minneapolis deployment is ostensibly in response to the Somali fraud schemes which were perpetrated by legal immigrants, and now those investigations have ground to a halt since the top US Attorneys in the district have resigned. The point is that a large federal force acting with complete immunity can do whatever the hell the president wants regardless of what rentals on their vests stand for.

Government overreach is government overreach. The last 30 years is relevant on the topic of AR’s being used in mass shootings, is it OK if ICE under the next democratic president confiscated them?
Dont know. Imagine things being a little different under that pretext - but to be clear I'm shooting first in that scenario and I'm sure I'm not alone.

Maybe my state would take the unoriginal idea that we are a "second amendment sanctuary" ?

This happened as a direct result of years of left aisle politics (sanctuary cities, "seeking asylum," and not turning them into ICE after charged with a crime) - there are people here that are completely unvetted. If there were a terrible terrorist attack - would that make you change your mind about how we got here?

The pragmatic side of the issue is that those immigrants were offered a plane ticket home. They could have been turned over to ICE when convicted/charged with a crime.

I can't say I agree with the approach, and can't say I personally can how serious it is. As I said previously - its about impossible to draw conclusions based solely on reporting anymore. It wouldn't be the first time that the full context of a police interaction isn't provided or explained.

March 17th many of those "legal" somali immigrants who were here under TPS aren't legal anymore.

Right, the problem is sanctuary cities, yet there's more than double the amount of illegal immigrants in TX, FL, and UT as Minnesota. But, we're going to send 3,000 ICE and BP to Minnesota.

Addressing the alleged problem or an occupation for political reasons? I think anyone with a hint of common sense knows the answer to that question.

Yeah.

The problem is sanctuary cities. Florida and texas don't need a lot from ICE. You don't need a lot to deport people from a jail who already captive.

Where your local politicians/police force aren't a hinderance to federal law enforcement, a lot less resources are required.

Where there's enough people to vote blue at all costs - the federal government requires a lot of resources to enforce immigration law. Common sense is lost on you.

The agency said state and local law enforcement should also “commit to honoring the ICE arrest detainers” of undocumented immigrants in custody and sign agreements with the feds to carry out immigration enforcement.

“If local officials, including those in the Twin Cities, don’t want ICE to arrest criminal aliens that are at large in their communities, the best solution is to turn them over to us in a safe, controlled setting like a jail or a prison,” Marcos Charles, executive associate director of enforcement and removal operations for ICE, said at the news conference.

You can lead a fudd to water but you can't make em drink.

I’m alright with them taking the ar’s while they are round up the illegals. Kinda sounds like one stop shopping to me

In Texas:
ICE reported large arrest and detention totals in 2025 as enforcement surged: independent trackers show record detention populations (61,000 in late August, up from 39,000 in January) and large counts of arrests—The Texas Tribune counted 138,068 ICE arrests from Trump’s inauguration to July 29, 2025 (24% in Texas) and TRAC reported 41,641 people booked into detention in October 2025, of whom ICE arrested 36,646 [1] [2] [3]. Federal statements emphasize that roughly 70% of ICE arrests are of people with pending charges or convictions, while investigative outlets and academic groups report many interior arrests involve nonviolent or nonconvicted migrants and that public data releases have been incomplete [4] [5] [6] [7].

In your scenario the federal government is trying to take a gun and you are shooting.

My friend, who has been a citizen here for 25 years, had ICE show up at her house two nights ago. She’s 6 months pregnant and has a 2 year old daughter. She is happily married to an another legal US citizen. Neither have committed a crime beyond a minor traffic violation. Should she have been shooting? They were trying to tear their family apart for no reason other than their skin color and their last name. Luckily ICE left and her family fled the area. Again….legal citizens and the exact opposite of criminals. Should they have been shooting?

How much did this cost the tax payer?

Biden admin flew hundreds of thousands of migrants into US using CBP One app https://share.google/eLM1t4wEJu5DE67aj

"It’s unconscionable but this is the shell game we've been talking about. This is what they've done, this administration. They've made a deal with migrants from all over the world,” he said. “They said, if you were framed from illegally entering along the southern border in between the ports of entry, what we'll do is we'll let you fill out a couple of lines of paperwork online and we’ll let you fly into 43 different airports in the United States who will process and release you. So it's absolutely to cover up bad political optics.”

I was enjoying this thread and want to give a shout out to the ones that get whats going on for the way they've handled the ones that don't get it .
I have no idea how , but there are a lot of people that need to be educated about how our country is designed to work .
The blame game is big among them and "whataboutism" is their only form of rebuttal .
This us VS them mentality will be the downfall of America , I fear . Midlife white men with the emotional quotient of a child , stuck in the past and unhappy , looking for someone to blame .
They're ok with "others" rights being violated , all the while screaming "Don't tread on me " , coming in with silly justifications for violating the constitution .
It started out with a intellectual conversation and has devolved into the inevitable by people trying to validate their stupidity by bringing false data and skewed numbers , and now it's just a blame game .
I no longer wish to listen to people trying justify Trump by pointing out something Biden did or didn't do .
The issue is Trump and what he is doing , period . How is that so hard ?
