ICE approaches them, says we need to see your ID as you're suspected to be an illegal immigrant. They don't show ID, so ICE can arrest them and let others deal with confirming their identity right?

Well, the best place to start is following the Constitution and the law.

An accent, skin color, how you dress, etc. does not meet the bar for "reasonable suspicion" of committing a crime or about to commit a crime. My guess is there is going to be some U.S. Citizens that aren't going to have to worry about SS benefits when this whole clustershag is over.

If they already beleive that is the person, then its good. Hook and book.

In your scenario, they already have suspicion, they've identified the person from a group most likely, and probably have a picture of the guy.

Not just walking down the street asking to see ID.

They've already done the back work in your scenario.

Those are 2 entirely different scenarios, one has established reasonable suspicion, the other has not and is harassment and a constitutional and legal violation of rights.

"Well, they did it, so can we..."

"Did they follow the law?..."

Thats the issue.

No one in our leadership wants tk stand up and say

"STOP"

we need to stop the madness and not use what the other guy did as ammunition for what we are doing now.

Read and follow the law, not just keep upping the ante.

I get super tan and has been asks by border patrol when I lived in Tucson what country I was from. He didn’t believe me and asked to see my id not a big deal I don’t understand why that should be an issue and not wasting an officers times. Ow ya that was back in 06 this isn’t anything new
