Anybody Buying Yet? Where’s the Bottom?

Vix at 24 is nothing. This is fun day, even if I'm in the red. I'd like to see some panic selling. Let's see if @Nick87 is right and the stock market doesn't matter to most Americans. I'm not so sure.

Please see my previous hundred posts on the risk of buying things that are expensive. Yesterday was about covering shorts in case polls were wrong. Today it is back to the reality that inflation is high, interest rates are probably going up, and the key economic driver - building data centers- is probably going to slow down. Zero clarity on anything right now, but people will eventually be looking for things they can buy (see BHR). Just be cautious because a lot of the stuff in tech is still expensive if things slow.
My post was sarcasm, in case you missed it. Higher interest rates is good for my strategy right now. So is it for those wanting lower housing prices. Tech stocks are stupid right now. They could use a good correction.

I wouldn't say it doesn't matter I guess as it affects everybody. It's just the last thing on most people's mind who are just trying to put dinner on the table. Even though it does effect them indirectly. I should have worded it differently I guess.

It's certainly going to stand out on my charts for a while. I can't find a legit reason why. Someone get a margin call? I suspect we will find out in a few weeks. I look forward to potentially buying good companies a reasonable price.
I think rhetoric from new dem leadership about trying to slow down and regulate AI didn't help, even if it should be done.

Seriously?
Yes. What are you thinking, the Dems win? Please. Half the posts here say both sides are the same so who is rushing to sell stocks down 4% in a day, particularly when the previous day they bid them up with enthusiasm. You think investors finally found religion on valuations? Fear of new regulations? Dems aren’t going to tell union members (working class Americans) their work is going to slow THAT much. These data centers will get built, just going to cost the tech bros a little more.

I open to other ideas as long as they are realistic, but I’m sticking with Investors are highly levered and some big player got caught with their pants around their ankles and it caused a cascade of selling. Time will tell.

Some big players decided it was a good time to take profits, is my thought.

If I owned any of these stocks, this would make me want to sell them right now, at their current inflated price.

This is not a political debate... But you just saw a party win that elected people who openly hate capitalism. The majority of the money in the market is held by people over 55 years old. Mass majority of them over 55 see Socialism as disgusting and far different than the woman and young voters. They are not going to think a party that has people elected that hate capitalism will help company profits including, oil , energy, and tech while opposing data centers on the tech side. I am over 60 and I sold more in stock the day after the election than most people under 40 have in total in their portfolio. I don't care if it rebounds or not, I'm at the age where I see moving into bonds, treasuries and and dividends is best for me and riding into the sunset. Any financial advisor should see how older people view a future of companies if people who hate capitalism can have an effect. This isn't a prediction of what the market will do going forward, i care far less at my age being less invested, it's just letting you know how many seniors view politics and what effects were driving the selloff. You can argue I'm wrong, but I'm not because I'm one that sold and I'm definitely not the only one.

Are you paying attention to what is happening in France? Some of that will be coming to big US cities in the near future, IMO.
Not to mention how many people openly support Luigi Mangione and would like to see him released. We are living in an era where "justifiable" violence is supported and celebrated by way, way too many people.

Since 1946, 18 of 20 midterms have been lost by the sitting presidents party. This is nothing new except the change is “Yuge” this time. Gridlock is our friend. I expect nothing material to happen in the next two years except vacating some of the president’s aggressive actions. No comments on local party changes.
