Any vintage stereo nerds here?

I was helping at an e-waste even yesterday and came across an old Marantz 2265B. It was sealed up in the original box with the manual and appears to be in great shape. It powers up but I don’t have any speakers to hook up to it. I was thinking about taking it to a repair shop to have it looked over and then listing it for sale. Sounds like they’re pretty sought after. Any advice from the audio gurus on here? Thanks!

I have a couple floor model Sansui cabinet speakers with 18" subwoofers. My goal was to get our closest neighbors 3/4 mile away to tell me to turn it down. I never had enough power to drive them to their full potential.

If it's still new in box, and it works then you've got something of value. Given the resale price on these, I'd get it tested if you don't have a set of speakers yourself.

If you want to get into the old systems, then keep it. but if you prefer things like bluetooth and modern electronics then get a pair of Advent loudspeakers and a newer receiver and let the neighborhood know what Tool sounds like on 11.

Don't sell it. Use it in your shop, garage, wherever. I have an Onkyo receiver and a couple DWD 4 speakers I bought new in the early 70's. The sound is incredible.

The welding/grinding in the garage probably wouldn’t do it any favors. I’m getting more and more intrigued by it but I think I’ll probably pass it along to someone who truly appreciates it. It just wouldn't get the appreciation it deserves in my house

I've been kicking around the idea of getting into vinyl.
Born in '90 so I grew up on cassettes, walkmans, and CDs, so I know about nothing about record players and vinyl.
I like the idea of owning physical copies, rather than streaming. Streaming is more convenient, but I eff'in hate the ads and am too cheap to pay for ad free listening. I'd rather pony up for physical copies.

Someone tell me where to start. Entry level, maybe a step above entry level.

Go big or go home. I never play mine. It will reignite the addiction to crystal clear and controllable sound.

Yeah, a certain amount of respect needs to be given to quality gear.

Lots of folks think the Audio-Technica tables offer a lot for the money. Kids are really into vinyl, and my granddaughter wants one for her Birthday, and this is probably the route I'm taking.
