Yes sir, of course.With muzzleloaders?
Oooops , no I don’t . I saw this on the what’s new page and replied .With muzzleloaders?
I want to build a muzzleloader and get into some long range shenanigans.Just wondering if anyone on the site shoots long range, beyond 500yds?
Why not something much more traditional? You could even take up competitive Creedmoor shooting the real deal, not the stuff that passes for creedmoor these days.I want to build a muzzleloader and get into some long range shenanigans.
I’m thinking a Remington 700 base and go from there. I’m a huge fan of the arrow head rifles but I just can’t find a way to part with that amount of cash at once! And I think the old lady would have a heart attack!
One thing about the rifle, it could be a one-time purchase. On the other hand, every time you touch the trigger, you'll be sending $5.50 to $6.00 down range.I want to build a muzzleloader and get into some long range shenanigans.

How do you do that figuring? Lead is $1-$2 per pound, powder is up but not that much and caps are not made of gold. One thing about the rifle, it could be a one-time purchase. On the other hand, every time you touch the trigger, you'll be sending $5.50 to $6.00 down range.
I just returned from shooting at Friendship IN. I counted my expired tubes and I sent 60 rounds.
I don't shoot traditional rifles anymore. I shot them for decades and now shoot only modern inline rifles. How do you do that figuring? Lead is $1-$2 per pound, powder is up but not that much and caps are not made of gold.
I cant imagine why you would pay that or use such stuff, but to each his own.I don't shoot traditional rifles anymore. I shot them for decades and now shoot only modern inline rifles.
Modern inline long-range bullets are $2.50 each, plus tax, plus shipping. You're talking getting close to $300 for 100 bullets
BH209 is EXPENSIVE for only 8oz. Add up the price for a bottle of that, add tax, then add the Hazmat fees. Using 100grs by weight, calculate that.
I only use Federal 215M magnum match primers, so add that.
Yes, to each his/her own. I pay that much because I like what I'm doing, PLUS............ the wife still approves!I cant imagine why you would pay that or use such stuff, but to each his own.
100 bullets would not last a weekend, much less practice and load development.
Oh well.
As long as you're shooting at targets and not game animals go ahead and shoot as far as you want.Yes sir, of course.
Muzzleloaders have been shooting over 1,000yds for over 150yrs. Example: Creedmoor.
They are shooting to 1,000yds twice a year at Camp Atterbury, IN. Percussion, BPCR and modern inline rifles.
Self imposed 600yd limit. As long as you're shooting at targets and not game animals go ahead and shoot as far as you want.

I'm not going to carry a pocket full of quarters around for using a payphone, if they still have them, when I can carry a "smart phone" in my shirt pocket.
Some people like traditional, but their numbers are dwindling and quickly, and that cannot be argued. Friendship is a prime example. Unfortunately, muzzleloader numbers are dropping like a rock all over the country.
Load development is quick and easy, at least for me. Practice for the past year has been pretty cheap with my medical issues, but normally I'll send over 2,000 rounds a year.
On a muzzy? Whats the flight time? Miami to seattle?Self imposed 600yd limit.
1.67 seconds more or less. Thats unreasonably long, insofar as hunting goes, imo.On a muzzy? Whats the flight time? Miami to seattle?![]()
