It won’t force me out but I don’t like it. Honestly, I feel bad for all the younger people who it will force out of the process and will not have the opportunity to hunt out of state. That might not be the intent of the proposal, but it will certainly be the result.

I could see paying the license fee especially if it stays so I can do it every other year but at 32 a point that’s really not worth it given the draw odds. If it takes 25 years to draw a bull tag your around 3k for just the tag. That’s only points and elk tag fee. Doesn’t include the license. I started buying points there because it was cheap fun lottery but for that price I’d rather not

It is a simple matter of supply and demand. As long as someone will pay the price, they will ask it. “They” isn’t isolated only to Utah.

With all the so called “influencers” there is so much attention paid to trophy hunting that people have the money and aren’t afraid to spend it. That hurts the sportsman that just wants the opportunity to hunt, but there are plenty here that think opportunity isn’t sporting either.

This is a war that can’t be won. There are no victors, just casualties…

I started a chapter of RMEF about 10 years ago with a few guys. We’ve raised a lot of money since then. I’d say in 2-3 years I’m bailing on it, though. Maybe before that. I’ll join a local Pheasants Forever chapter where the majority of the money stays local. I’m getting increasingly sick of the money we raise going to states who are determined to price me out of something I love. When I leave, the chapter likely goes away with me.

Big game hunting has been one of my biggest passions through my life. Every year over the last five years I have found myself seriously loosing interest in applying to multiple different states. If this passes, it makes my decision in UT very easy.

Hopefully it improves odds for those that decide to stay.

100% true. It’s amazing how many here are blind to it.

No it doesn't hurt the average sportsmen one bit if they hunt their home states as a Resident.

It's always been 1% of the Sportmen/women that fight the good fight, the rest make threats and think buying a license once a decade is going all out.

That hasn't changed in my lifetime so far, and won't change in the upcoming decades.

I'm switching gears, I think the average mountain biker, rock climber, camper, birdwatcher, etc. is more passionate about public lands and much more likely to support same. They're also more likely to get involved. Hunters, as a vast majority, are a selfish bunch that only care about killing something and that's about where their "advocacy" ends.

I'm going to spend my time with people that care about public lands, and right now, that isn't NR hunters and in particular those in the mid-West are some of the worst.

I don't like it, but its just a simple fact and the way it is.

Exactly the response I predicted. What I was wrong on is that it took as long as it did.
