just wondering if there is coyotes in alaska??? I know theres those BIG coyotes ;) and foxes but i haven't read in any story, post etc about coyotes. Do you have them up there???

We were watching some Dall ewes that were spooked and acting silly. Pretty soon here comes a coyote trucking across the ridge. Pretty cool to see.

Shortly after my buddy and I got a double on goats in Prince William Sound one year, I turned my back on my goat to take a view of the setting sun (not sure if that was really the case, but it sounds dramatic). Anyway, my buddy and I turn back around and behold a pack of 6 yotes. My buddy blasted one with a 7mm and the others took off like a bat out of hell. The total take on that hunt was 2 goats, 1 black bear and the yote. That was a memorable hunt.

Thanks for the replies! That makes alaska sound even better!

coyote

The range of the coyote is expanding and they are finding homes in many parts of Alaska. The Copper River basin in the Eastern part of the state has a lot of them but as you head north they peter out. Up here in NW Alaska we have none. I think the competition with wolves would kill them but who knows.
