In a couple of weeks I'll be accompanying fellow Hunt Talker J.R. Young on a moose scunting trip to Idaho. As this is my first western trip and only second big game trip in my young hunting career, I thought I'd ask you fine people for your input.

Aside from paying attention to what my fellow hunters specifically point out, what advice would you give a new hunter tagging along for the first time?

Oh... you poor son of a bitch.

Bring a respirator, a chainsaw, a good book, put J.R. in charge of food, and start doing your rain dance now.

Nailed it! Its dang smoky at the moment; I can't say there is anything to close to where you are heading as they are having a tough time keeping updated on backcountry fires with the big ones burning in the low country and using up most of the staffing.

We'll be hunting. It'll be a relatively short trip though, so worst case we will call it scouting for a later trip.
