With application deadline looming I have been scratching my head. I have some points to deal with here in CO, but not a ton....11 in elk, 5 deer and 6 or 7 in pronghorn.....and with the change looming I would LIKE to use some. The other day my SF Association local sent out an email that my former 1SG (he retired as a CSM), who has a hookup with an outfitter down south, had gotten a couple of cow hunts donated and they put out the call. I threw my name in the hat for shits and giggles. Last night I found out I get picked for that. To make the deal even better one of my buddies who ran our motorcycle mentor program (also retired SGM) got picked too. I thought I would go ahead and kick this pig!!! As of now I will be doing that at the end of August (private land tag) and rolling to see Redman in November. I will also be making a run to our cabin in May after attending the HP's college graduation in Nashville. I have some work to do on it, have a garden tractor to buy and will also run by Flora to do a little trimming and cutting on the farm. I am staying open to all possibilities as well. As things are shaping, either this year or next will probably be my last as a CO resident....so there is THAT to think about too. Here is to hoping we get SOME kind of rain this summer.......

11 elk points as a resident… you have some nice options. Burn ‘em!!!

Well, the trip home went well but worked my old, half-crippled body more than I anticipated....got lots done though. Tractor all set up, used a couple times and first service done, household projects done, etc. Colorado draw was a big zeeerrrooo for me, and one of those I theoretically should have drawn. Redman came up with an auxiliary plan and we are going to see about a WY goat hunt. It would be in roughly the same area we were in last year and would be a fun trip. We shall see.

I did talk to Kevin last week and if all for both of us stays good I will be up in Wisco for rifle season again this year as well. I cannot tell you how much I want fall to come. Also, in a bit of news, after my cow hunt in August I will be headed back to Indiana to officially change my self back to an "official" Hoosier and begin the process of washing my hands of Colorado. I have had some great times here but the downward spiral in this state along with the advantages of home make this a no brainer. I can visit mountains anytime I want.....Hoosierland is a whole other ball game.
