As usual, my mental gymnastics and stressing over hunting season got in the way of Kaitie getting out and enjoying the outdoors. About half way through our rifle season she had had enough, and demanded I take her to one of her favorite river bottom spots to hunt deer for the weekend, and hopefully get blood on her new rifle.

Not long into the hunt she had spotted this buck on a distant hillside-

She made a mile long loop to get above it, and decided it was a worthy recipient of wearing her tag-

She cut it up-

And loaded it in my backpack.

I'm glad she invited me along. She has a talent of keeping things simple and enjoying hunting for what it is, I'm very envious.

Congratulations on the great deer and keeping it simple:)

It's pretty cool your wife will do this with you. I took mine out last year on a depredation hunt just so she could see how I field dress one. She a Southern Belle so its safe to say she won't ever get blood on her hands.

Nicely done! I'm Guessing you didnt complain one bit about the heavy pack! Congratulations

I will never complain about a downhill packout in that country, as rare as they are.

Wow! Congratulations Randy and Katie! Great looking buck and what an incredible mental position to approach "the hunt"! Such a simple approach - holds an inspirational, Hallmark type moment.

Very cool.
