Jason Newsted was my favorite member of Metallica before they railroaded him. Their best era was with him, he had a great energy
Even though I know he wasn’t in the band, it’s hard to convince myself every time I hear it that Neil Young didn’t sing that song…

I have seen some interviews, he seems to be.
He always looked like he was having the time of his life when playing with Metallica, always in full-send mode. I think that rubbed the other guys the wrong way over time, but I thought it was cool.
From what he told us the rest of the band said Metallica or nothing. Jason wanted to do some things on his own. He has since sold the property. Spectacular place. mtmuley
