Anyone using one, I have just shot some factory 150 grn's at steel getting a 4 inch group at 300 metres, thats fine but I had it built to use the 170 and 200 grn projectiles on Sambar and big Reds, its built on a VZ33 action and only running an 18" barrel its for using in the tight scrub with the occasional longer shot up to 300 metres.

Cheers
Jeff.

2206H and 2209, 2208 look the best.

I'd use a slower powder for the 200 grain bullet. Try the 2209 for those. Otherwise, you'd be well off using the 2208 and see which ones shoot best.

I'd use IMR's 4350 or 4320 for the 8mm mauser. 4895 is an old standby as well for the 06 case family.

Have some 170 semi pointed Speer hot core comming, I also have some 4064 tucked away I can use, having no end of problems with my .223 and .243 trying heavy projectiles will just have to keep trying different powders I s'pose, at least my 6.5's and 7mill are shooting 1 hole groups

cheers
Jeff

I have used 50gr of Win748 with 180gr nosler balistic tips. don't know how it will work in a short barrel. Win748 works good for me in 223 with 55gr bullets it fills the case too much to use on lighter bullets.

I use a Persian carbine for close or thick work, often using the 220gr Sierra BTSP which will take care of most anything walking on this continent. Don't have my charts handy to tell you the powder weight though. With that short barrel it's a real flame thrower and the 220gr thumps pretty good.

I shoot the .243 quite a bit and have good luck with 95gr Nosler Partition and 42.5gr of IMR4350 seated out to 70mm (2.760"), also 100gr Nosler Partition with 41.5gr of IMR4350. My OAL might not suit your gun, so pay that little attention. They're about .005" off the lands.

Pulled the barrel on the .243 its now got a .260 shilen on it, big big improvement:) using Noslers 120 BTips and 125 partitions. With the .223 I found a good load with 65gn Gamekings and BM2 and 75 gn Bergers with 2206H.

Got down to an inch load with 45 grns of 2209 and the 170 hot cors with the 8x57 but couldn't replicate it, has been in for a trim and recrown and going out to the range again this weekend.

Thanks for the help.

Jeff
