Am going to try 165 Speer Hot Core and 165 Accubond. Powders I have are RL15, imr4064,imr4350. In looking at Speer and Nosler books it seems out of a 22" barrel top speed is about 2650 fps. Is this what you guys read? Anybody else get more with other powders? Thanks

2,900'/sec with 165 grain Barnes TTSXBT out of a Sako .308 Finnlight carbine with 20 1/4" tight match grade barrel using by the book hair under max load with AA2520 the Camp Perry powder made for the 308. Very accurate. sub MOA. 1/11 twist.
On principal I drop the load down to 2.850'/sec.
My friend has a Tika in 308 with 22" barrel. Best max velocity he can get with same powder is 2,775'/sec with longer barrel.
With my Belgium Browning 30-06 the best I can get out of my 22 inch barrel with 4064 is 2,750'/sec

2700-2750 with Varget out of a 22” barrel depending on the bullet for me.

Similar to the two posts above I get around 2750 with 165’s out of a 22” Lilja with Varget.

What is a "tight, match grade" barrel?
I know of different manufacturers offering "select match" and other variations thereof.
All match grade means is that the bore is at a consistent tolerance.
Such as air gauging down the length of the barrel to be within 0.0005" for the length.
Not that the bore is on the tight side of tolerance.
You may want to check your chrono against another.
If you're "a hair under book max" , and over book velocity with a 4" shorter barrel, something is not right.

Your concerns and suggestions are totally valid.
I bought this rifle barely used around the "turn of the century" 1999 to 2000. It has always been amazing. The barrel is fluted, is crowned. Hot or cold, clean or dirty it shoots the same. Hardly fouls even after many shots with copper bullets.
Over the past quarter century while having continuous great performance in all ways possible, I have taken counsel with many ballisticians from various bullet/powder companies.
The bolt is easy to lift, primer pockets do not get loose, no burnishing on the case head, no flat primers, or craters around the firing pin.
They always say, "enjoy the Performance",
One who knew Sako rifles well and had great respect for them used the term "tight" in all regards to both chamber and barrel.
When I offered the figure 2,900'/sec I was averaging a vary narrow single digit range over and under 2,900.
I have compared my chronograph to a few others with no significant difference.

I notice that Mustangs is using a powder that probably few have tried. Nosler data shows good numbers with Ramshot Biggame another powder not mentioned above. Their data is with a 24 inch barrel so that would need to be taken into account but would imply that 2900 with a 165 would not be out of reach in some rifles certainly with a 22 inch barrel.
Of course, there are other considerations than top speed when choosing a load.
I am currently putting together a 22 inch 308 so I am going to try some different powders and see what happens but if I end up around 2800 with an accurate load, I will be OK with that. In reality, I have a cheap chronograph so I will probably never know for sure, and it will not actually matter.

AA2520 is called the Camp Perry Powder, designed for the 308

I've tried a few different 165 bullets, Accubonds, Sierra GK, and Speer Hot core. With 44gr of varget, winchester or Hornady cases, I got between 2700- 2730fps. Both from a Kimber Montana and a Rem 700 each with a 22" barrel. My go-to load is a the Accubond, very consistent at 2725 +/-10.
Could maybe get a bit more speed, but it works for me.
