Curling is surely an "acquired interest." If you grew up in areas where every town of much size had a curling rink/club, you ended up following the sport from lack of other things to do.
I'm talking curling meccas like Chisholm, Hibbing, Bemidji, and Cloquet. When the big events are put together, they all met at the real shrine of US Curling - Duluth.

And finally aligned with my close group of other MN->CO longtime transplants to get a rec league going (we have a couple of curling clubs here in greater Denver). Every 4 years we threaten, in a MN-Nice way of course, to drag our wives and kids. Finally getting it going in March.
