Curling is surely an "acquired interest." If you grew up in areas where every town of much size had a curling rink/club, you ended up following the sport from lack of other things to do.

I'm talking curling meccas like Chisholm, Hibbing, Bemidji, and Cloquet. When the big events are put together, they all met at the real shrine of US Curling - Duluth.

And finally aligned with my close group of other MN->CO longtime transplants to get a rec league going (we have a couple of curling clubs here in greater Denver). Every 4 years we threaten, in a MN-Nice way of course, to drag our wives and kids. Finally getting it going in March.

So, to put this into perspective. Say you have a LE elk tag in a top unit with 380 class bulls within reach and you injure yourself the week before the hunt. Going to just sit on the couch and stew in your misery, probably not. I would go to the best of my abilities to make it happen, exactly what she did.

I think you’d need to caveat this comparison with “and your HT handle is @Frequently Banned Troll and you already have a bunch of 400” bulls on your wall.”

Very true. I'd rather poke my eyes out than have to watch ice skating or dancing

My grandparents used to take all us grandkids to the Snoopy on Ice every Christmas. Even got tables along the ice. I poo-poohed it until one of the female skaters, came and sat on my grandfathers lap and gave him a kiss on the cheek...Then I noticed , those female skaters are in damn good shape....

Jill Schultz ( daughter of Charles Schultz) was in her 20's and was fun to watch for a pre teen boy....

Speed & figure skating are awesome.

You take two knives and strap them to your feet, then go as fast and hard as you can, while also spinning and flips and karate kicks.

Let's see you guys do that.

Maybe this is a poor take, but I would prefer fewer events so that I don't have as much FOMO.

Vonn and Shiffrin, two of the all-time best, both have struggled with the mental side more than the physical side, and have been pretty open about it. I root for them every chance I get. It doesn't hurt that they're both smokin' hot and old enough that it's not creepy.
