2025 South Dakota Deer Draw

I like the speed of results though. Applied at 7:53 this morning. Yes I had forgotten. Results about 8 hours later.
This really goes to show you how much politics and excuses come into play in every other state regarding applications. I know this is a smaller draw but a same day draw, with an online portal updated and an email sent out to each application is about what should happen with the technology we have these days.

I'd like to see SD turn the bison draws into 100% random draw and do away with the points.
Pretty soon it's not only going to be too expensive for most folks, but it's also going to be unattainable for anyone with less than XX points.
A good friend and his dad both drew non trophy tags with 7.

Due to the huge influx of people that happened around 5 years ago, my odds of drawing with 1 less than max actually keeps going down every year. I think it was over 15% chance 3 years ago and this year was about 5%. That huge influx of people getting their points cubed really tosses a massive amount of entries into the hat

I think that was actually 9 years ago. I am one point ahead of that and I feel you. If I am not mistaken that huge influx corresponded with the Huntin Fool adding SD to its list of states that it carried.

Just been buying points for a few years and now am seriously considering a ranch hunt instead.

agreed. A computer can do all the drawings in an hour.

Well whiffed again in South Dakota.

Yeah and a few years back, a lot of folks all drew Bighorn Sheep tags. Computer issue I guess. They did it over to get the right amount of licenses issued. I do not believe we have a max on preference points. If 1100 people applied, maybe we need to pull a Wyoming and jack the price a bit.

I wouldn’t mind seeing a green pronghorn circle above my green deer circle. Slim chance but I’m patiently waiting anyways.

Just got a charge on my card for $20 from SD. Looks like another point for me. Goodluck everyone!

No luck here. I can’t believe all the people with highish points that jumped in this year for a unit with such few and small antelope. Just a year or two ago, hardly anyone even applied.
