2021 Spring Bear Thread

Had another great night, spotted a real good one, but it was a long, windy shot, and he gave me the slip when I tried to close the distance. Waited him out during about 2 hours of zero visibility and sopping wet snow, but he never showed up again.

After the snow I spotted a different bear and ended up passing after watching it for a while. Then it was a long walk out through the grizzly pit after dark.

I had found a moose calf carcass when out looking for bears. So put a camera up as I knew a bear would find it but not sure when and what kind of bear. It took a few days and found a nice black bear had come in but didn't stick around. Just checked it again today hoping that it had come back but no luck. A grizzly found it now going to give that area to him. Going to head into another area tomorrow.

Aint seen any bears last few days, did see these. The lighter one looks like it has been collared, one pics shows almost a shine off it. Taking couple days off to get some work done and do some prep for idaho hunt that starts end next week. Still no skunk cabbage or dandelion blooms on mountains here.

I got one of those "memories" notifications the other day with a photo I had posted on FB from 9 years ago. It was the last spring bear I had hunted/killed. I didn't think it had been that long since I'd done a spring bear hunt. Appreciate everyone's photos and stories on this thread.
