In 1994 my senior year of high school my dad took me up to a used car lot and showed me a 1985 GMC High Sierra square body. I liked it and went to the bank for my first auto loan. I worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken part time to make the payments. I really liked that truck and kept it for a few years. Unfortunately I wasn't able to keep the truck and have regretted it for years.

Several months ago my younger brother was on a job at these people's house and saw a truck parked in the driveway. He sent me pics of the truck. The owner of the truck inherited from his biological father 4 years ago but was thinking of selling it. His father purchased the truck new and was the only owner all of these years until his passing when this man inherited it. Still have the original keys and the son has the original window sticker. The truck was in a neighboring state. My brother was able to get a phone number so I called asking about it. My wife and I made the 3 hour drive to look at it and I drove it home. Not exactly like mine in highschool but that's fine I really like it.

Great looking square body.

My first truck was an 86 square body, long bed with the 305. I mowed lawns for no other reason than to put straight pipes and cherry bombs on it. Truck was obnoxiously loud and comically slow. I loved it though as a high school kid.

Enjoy the ride!

Before I bought Doug (my previous hunting truck) I was on the look out for a square body. In my neck of the woods I couldn't find anything short of an absolute basket case for less than 5-6K........

Very good looking truck.

In the early 90s I was in high school. Milking cows for some money I bought a 1980 Chevy half ton with a straight 6 and 3 on the tree. I loved that truck.

I had a 76 and a 77 in the 90's. It would be hard for me to resist getting another today.

Curious, what did you have to pay for it?

Okie that squarebody looks really clean and taken care of. Great truck. I got a 86 K10 with a small block been hunting on for years ain't nothing better than a ole regular cab 4wd. Mine is a long bed and won't turn around easy in the woods like a short bed will. I restored mine somewhat with a new suspension and ball joints and other things kept the drivetrain. Real easy to work on and parts dirt cheap. Got a 76 working on now stripped it down to the frame. Got to save some dollars for it though.

I had an 82 and damn I loved that truck. It was named Hoghven on the plates of course. It had a small block 400, and Turbo 400 transmission. It had a 4 inch Rancho lift and BFG 33’s. With the glass packs and ridiculous stereo everyone knew when I was coming or going, and generally it was quickly. I sank so much money into, basically every sent I made. Then I had to go to college and grow up… I sold it in Spokane for pennies on the dollar and bought a damn Honda CRX for gas mileage… I still see it around Spokane sometimes. It’s as beautiful as ever at least… 😢 I miss it, but with those big tires and fancy little steering wheel it was a damn handful to drive.
