Zeiss, end of the road?

I guess a solid option would be to stick with LEICA.

The worst warranty experience of anything I've ever dealt with was Leica. They refused to warranty something. The lady in New Jersey you'd call was horrid. It got solved. My friend's parents from NYC/NJ heard me complaining about it and said I was far too nice to deal with NJ folks, and they'd call them for me. They called, ramped their accents up, while I was there and every 4th phrase was f-you. Then I was good to send them in. It was very, very absurd. That was like 15 years ago, so I don't know now.

I know this is about Zeiss, but I too had a horrible experience with Leica. I had a Leica LRF rangefinder, and it got moisture inside (lens fogged up). I sent it in and they said it was out of warranty (by 6 months), but they would give me a credit toward a new one in their inventory. With the credit and paying their retail asking price, it would cost more for a new one than I could get it at Cabelas or Midway. Then they wanted to charge me to ship it back to me if I decided to keep it.

Leica makes excellent products but the stories I’ve heard about warranty gave Swarovski the edge for me.

I’ve used Swarovski warranty a few times with excellent results. I’ve called looking to buy a cover or something minor I broke/lost and they will send the parts to me free.

I will add that the last couple years has seen a complete turn around with Leica's CS, in my experience they were amazing and I will continue to use their products.

Is there a co. with excellent warranty service if their warranty is seldom used? Pondering.@

I'd heard similar things. When I had a couple pairs of Geovids fail in cool temps they were fine to work with, just didn't always have inventory to replace with timely. That must have been '17-18 timeframe when they were working on overhauling customer service.

On a related note, Just had my $2600 sig kilo 10k gen 2 binos warranty replaced as well. So i'm 0-3 on $2k+ range finding binos making it a year without needing replacement. None of which were used all the heavily either.

Never used ziess before always have used redfield and Bushnell but my absolute favorite is lepould so hopefully they don't go nowhere
