Your preference with trigger lbs?

For a hunting rifle 2.5 to 3. However, I've shot some crisp 3.5 triggers that felt fine.

My 223 is set at around 1.75 lb. I really like it but it is lighter than I would typically want in a hunting rifle.

Most seem to like no creep, no overtravel, but I feel like i shoot better being able to preload the trigger through the first stage and have it not stop immediately after it breaks on the follow through.
Interesting, I can shoot a two stage trigger with no problem but I can’t stand gritting feeling creep. I’m actually starting to prefer a two stage trigger I think. Your take on overtravel is something I’m coming to realize that I like also. I have a Jewel trigger on my bench rest rifle and the overtravel screw is completely removed. The mild recoil moves the rifle off of my finger. Some serious long range shooters prefer to have maximum overtravel after the trigger breaks. This makes sense to me, hitting the overtravel stop is bound to cause more movement of the rifle.

All of my adjustable triggers on hunting rifles are around 2lbs.....light enough but controllable. My 22-250 setup (Tikka in chassis) has the Mountain Tactical spring and is around 10-12 oz.....also a 5 shot/one hole gun. Target/bench setups I don't like anything over 1 lb really. I want to be able to rest my finger and THINK about shooting.....less force required equals less torque
