Self defense pistol recommendations.

IMO, if you have limited experience with a handgun, it will likely be very hard to shoot well under pressure regardless of the handgun. I think that a folding type pistol caliber carbine might suit your needs and be a lot easier to shoot under pressure. I personally have a S&W M&P FPC in 9mm, but there are several others that would be suitable.
I am only worried if someone gets into my house. My house is pretty small. :D Too small for a folding carbine.

Don’t buy a Ruger lcp9 unless you like lots of jams, a heavy trigger pull and lots of trigger travel

I wonder how many folks contributing to this thread have actually killed or tried to kill a living creature weighing over 150 lbs. with a 9mm under any circumstances…

Like many others have said, professionals don’t carry revolvers anymore. Any handgun is not hard to be comfortable with if you spend a little time shooting it.

My dad transitioned from a .357 to a .40 to a .9mm in the 80’s -90’s with the Indiana State Police and never looked back.

I have all four of his service pieces and love them all. But how many times have you read about a LE being shot because they’re semi misfired?

Hopefully never do, but there are 1000 body camera videos of LEOs doing just that. I was a staunch .45ACP guy for years until I looked into the reality of just how deadly a 9mm JHP is. .45, .40, 10mm are great, just not necessary.

As I said in a previous post, I shot numerous injured deer with 9 mm, .40, and the .357 Mag in the old days. 9mm was not impressive.

The company I work for built a house for a man in law enforcement years ago. He retired as a San Diego SWAT team member. Flew a chopper for the team. He had lots of stories as we had a beer or two at the end of the day. 9mm seemed to work for those guys. mtmuley

There's really no need to debate because the 45 ACP is also widely referred to as "God's caliber" 🤣
