I am only worried if someone gets into my house. My house is pretty small.IMO, if you have limited experience with a handgun, it will likely be very hard to shoot well under pressure regardless of the handgun. I think that a folding type pistol caliber carbine might suit your needs and be a lot easier to shoot under pressure. I personally have a S&W M&P FPC in 9mm, but there are several others that would be suitable.
Hopefully never do, but there are 1000 body camera videos of LEOs doing just that. I was a staunch .45ACP guy for years until I looked into the reality of just how deadly a 9mm JHP is. .45, .40, 10mm are great, just not necessary.I wonder how many folks contributing to this thread have actually killed or tried to kill a living creature weighing over 150 lbs. with a 9mm under any circumstances…
As I said in a previous post, I shot numerous injured deer with 9 mm, .40, and the .357 Mag in the old days. 9mm was not impressive.Hopefully never do, but there are 1000 body camera videos of LEOs doing just that. The company I work for built a house for a man in law enforcement years ago. He retired as a San Diego SWAT team member. Flew a chopper for the team. He had lots of stories as we had a beer or two at the end of the day. 9mm seemed to work for those guys. mtmuleyAs I said in a previous post, I shot numerous injured deer with 9 mm, .40, and the .357 Mag in the old days. 9mm was not impressive.
My buddy did bear patrol in the AK oil fields and has been an outfitter in AK forever - brown bears. He’s the reason I switched from .44 mag and 10mm to 357/9mm for anything defense including grizzlies. Laugh it up.As I said in a previous post, I shot numerous injured deer with 9 mm, .40, and the .357 Mag in the old days. 9mm was not impressive.

I'm keeping my 10 mm. I like it. But I get it with the 9mm. Just need to add one. mtmuleyMy buddy did bear patrol in the AK oil fields and has been an outfitter in AK forever - brown bears. I also am not recommending “what I have” as I don’t have a G43x - that’s what I’d get for what mtmiller is looking for. Have shot other real nice one similar including the Shield. Still think Glock is a no brainer. 9, 40, whatever but my preference would be a 9.
I’m not a pistol guy but have shot a few - this isn’t all mine but most. Sold my 10mm Glock and 44 smith, but my bear country/tent gun is the smith airlite wheel gun (357)in the pic. It’s not fun to shoot but the mimic in .22lr sure is. It’s got the crimson trace grips and it shoots great. The only real fun one is the Ruger standard with the suppressor. For any “self defense” stuff - completely forget the fancy double action semis.
