I enjoy coming up hunting goals that are different than just trying to kill the biggest buck or bull out there (mainly because I suck at trophy hunting). It wasn't until hunting season had already started this year and after I killed my doe antelope that I realized I had the unique opportunity of killing a female of the each of the "big four"...antelope, deer, elk and moose. So that was my goal this year, and I completed it today with a doe whitetail. Now for a blind taste test to see if I can actually tell the difference between the wild game species, haha. What are some of the "different" kinds of goals you all have?

3 out of 4 on flat ground...almost a perfect 10.
Just kidding...great job, great perspective.
Good luck with deciding meals!!!

Last 4 cow elk were flat grounders. I was due for a pack out this year.

I also have that rifle in the same caliber. For deer I load 232 grain Norma Vulcan bullets for hogs I use plain old PPU 285 grain soft nose factory rounds. I have recently loaded some 250 grain accubonds but have not used on game yet. I shot a 5.5 inch group at 400 yards with them. I love that set trigger on the bench. Great rifle.

Oh cool, yeah that set trigger is awesome. Definitely helps with sighting in. I use to shoot 232 gr Norma Oryx, but those became hard to get (I don't reload). Now I shoot the 250 gr Accubonds as well, and the moose was the first victim of that round. How do the Vulcans hold up on deer? I haven't killed anything with the PPU, but have shot the ammo and it actually has shot better than anything else I've tried. Just hesitant to use it on elk.

At the speeds they load those PPU any elk under 300 yards would be in serious peril. The Vulcans are awsome through and through on all game so far and you can eat right up to the hole. I tried some solid copper Barnes but the fouled the bore so bad accuracy went to crap after 10 rounds. Great caliber and rifle.

What models are the shotguns? Do you shoot black powder? Beautiful guns every one.
They are:

Burgess folding wrist slide action 12 gauge 2 1/2 inch…

Burgess wrist slide action solid rib, takedown…

Webley 12 gauge 2 1/2 inch…

I shoot them all with 2 and 2 1/2 inch smokeless loads. The Burgess guns will hold 7-2 inch shells in the magazine…

Finally got around to a taste test between all four species. Grilled the meat in two batches, one with salt, pepper and olive oil, and the other with a simple homemade marina. Elk got the most votes from the marinade batch, deer got the most from the salt/pepper batch. I was able to guess (dumb luck) all the species from the salt/pepper batch and only the moose and elk from the marinade batch. I personally liked the moose the best from the marinade batch and deer from the salt and pepper batch.
