So this year we took 7 of us to Wyoming, myself, my dad, my uncle, my three sons, and a friend of my oldest son. The weather was uncooperative for sure, 60’s during the day and 30’s at night. My youngest son Hadley, is 12 and he tagged a forkie on the first full day about an hour before dark. He had to go #2 and when he got back I told him I saw a deer and it was a buck, it was over 1500 yard away. We could go after it, or it was closer to where my middle son Hudson was sitting and I could go over and get him on it. Honestly I don’t know how Hudson hasn’t saw it yet. Hadley said he would go, he struggled wrapping his mind around hiking, his body did fine but it got in his head. We sneak over and he put a fine shot on it and had one down. The next day Hudson missed a fork spike 6 times,he was disappointed to say the least. Dialed the scope the wrong way come to find out. After that it was uneventful until my oldest son Hunters friend shot a doe and the rest ran down by us and Hudson missed at 70 yards. He was ready to give up. I convinced him to give it a go the next day was the last of the season. That morning he shot a doe at about mid morning. We got it taken care of and packed out. I was satisfied. I didn’t go out that afternoon. I hadn’t saw a legal buck the whole time and Hunter had saw one on private in 5.5 days of hunting. Dad and my uncle had fun, my uncle, it was his first western hunting experience got to see a moose and some beautiful country. I had a great time with family hunting. My second hunt in this area and they were vastly different, the first was a perfect storm of weather and animals, this one not so much but we had a blast.

Great time getting out and enjoying the outdoors. Memories for a lifetime!

Sounds like fun. I was out there a few years ago in late September and also saw very few legal bucks.
