Does anyone have experience with unit 36? Looking to take my SO's father out for a cow hunt. He is a disabled vet. He can walk fine, but isn't going to be able to hike or pack elevation.
How is the access? It seems like a good amount of public land. Is a reasonable hunt possible for a 65 year old who isn't a mountain goat kind of guy?

Looking to go last week of season. Snow issues? pressure?

Thanks for the help

Welcome to the forum.

I would advise staying away from 36. The elk are going to be off the public by the first morning of rifle season. In that area in particular the elk don't lag much between the wilderness and the edge of the NF.

If you want to take him out for a cow hunt, take a look at some of the late season options out in the BLM lands. Do a search of the site here, I am sure it will give you some ideas.
