Same here, but that had way more to do with the odds than cost for me personally.

I don’t think that raising point fees for DEA is going to make much of an impact besides making more money for the state (I don’t blame them for doing it, either).

Won’t matter seems to be no shortage of $ for people when it comes to out of state tags fees and points

What it will do is result in an endless supply of forum posts from pissed off NR's about how the game is rigged, the goal posts have been moved, someone should sue, hunting is becoming a rich mans game, etc. It will also provide fodder for influencers to create another round of YT videos about the upcoming changes to the Wyo tag draw system and how best to adapt to the changes so that you can continue to feed the system.

Had a nice long talk with our region biologist today.
Deer in our region are doing pretty good.
Good fawn recruitment, older age doe surviving seasons and mature bucks are stable.

Been doing the special deer price for years, odds aren't getting any better, hence wanting to go somewhere else. Spending the extra money just to keep my points is getting old.

About in the same boat with 18 points, whatever 2 back from max is. Should have tried for a tag 6 years ago, but things got in the way. Will probably put in for a unit that takes a lot less points.

51 people including me applied for 3 tags last year, around 6% chance of drawing. I’m 64, and evidently not very lucky, hence wanting to go in a different direction.

I'm hearing reliable rumors of preference points for deer, elk, and pronghorn becoming more expensive in the very near future. By statute they can increase to $75 each and the commission already has the authority.

at $75 each that is almost doubling the deer point and is more than doubling the antelope point. If 50% of people quit buying points then the state makes the same money on deer and antelope. And we all know 50% of people arent going to quit buying points

And when they go to 90/10, they will double it again. We are well on the way to the aristocratic hunting model in Europe, only the wealthy will be able to afford to hunt. I feel bad for the next generation.
