I drew a WY Region J deer tag - my question is, can I apply for HMA access for one of the units that fall in that Region?

Deer unit 61 is in that region, just trying to get an answer before I reach out to the regional office tomorrow.

I’d plan to hunt this HMA archery only.

Each HMA is different. You apply for access on July 11 online. Go to below link and click apply for permission slips:

Generally, you are allowed apply for only one permission slip for one HMA but there are exceptions such as those with unrestricted permission slips. Some HMAs are first come first serve I think but a number are managed on a random draw basis. Check the above link for an answer to your question. The way I read what you are asking the answer is yes, you can apply to one of the HMAs that fall in your hunt area. Some of the HMAs straddle game management areas in which case you may only hunt the area your license allows.

Don’t see why not. Looks like you can just print the slip when they’re available because they’re unlimited.
