I never hunt elk in converse county. I thought about type 2 as a second choice this year, but I think General sounds much better. I’ve never had a hunt disrupted by other hunters in a general area. I’ve had stalks ruined by other hunters multiple times in area 7.Don't forget the additional type 2 license with the type 8's.
Huh. Guess I should have looked at this thread before the leftover draw. Buddy and I whiffed on everything else but we drew type 6 cow tags in the leftover draw...oh well, hopefully worth the camping trip!
I never consider other hunters in southern wyoming competition, most give up before 9 am and the elk come out for lunch around 10 am.What part? Filling a cow tag with the type 6 dates should be doable. Yes, in all of the central WY units with a lot of private the cows tend to gravitate and take their calves to private even more than the bulls, but there are so many elk it's a myth that all elk are on private. If you get out and hunt hard and treat it like a real elk hunt, you will find elk on public.
Most of the elk I’ve killed have been between 10am and 3pm . You can’t shoot one mid day if you aren’t hunting mid day .I never consider other hunters in southern wyoming competition, most give up before 9 am and the elk come out for lunch around 10 am.
