I've been watching world cups since 1970, and in my opinion the quality of the teams has dropped off over the last decade. Not that it isn't entertaining, just lacking quality. I'm not sure many of the European players would have made their national teams in the past, and maybe one of the Brazil team would, and none of the German team. I think this is a big part of the reason that so many players pushing 40 have been playing this go around.
Things are so bad that England may make the semi final (albeit via Congo, Mexico, and Norway - not exactly powerhouses of soccer).
The team that has surprised me the most has been Columbia, they probably won't win it, but they have been the most entertaining to watch.

I woke up in the early hours so watched the last 30 mins, I don't know what to say really, hopefully it all comes together for the next World Cup.
All England have to do is beat Norway to proceed on, I can't see that being a easy, a bunch of crazy Vikings!

USA showed spurts of remebering how to play, but most of the first half they were sloppy and looked scared. The aggression to win the ball back after losing it was gone. Pulisic was a negative effect losing every ball he touched.
Second half they played better with some possession but did t generate enough chances.

Personally, i feel it wasn’t us loosing the match, it was that we were completely out classed. Belgium anticipated every pass, defensive structure, basically the entire match. N for the icing on top they put in Lukaku at the end to show what it could’ve been.
This is not knocking our country n team, I remember watching the “Miracle on Ice” as it happened but the fact is we had not faced an elite team yet and CONCACAF is what it is.
Our elite athletes migrate to other sports and w the $$$$ available, who can blame em.
