Woodworking Hunt Talkers?

Quick project involving bent wood and scraps. I'm planning on hunting with my dad's old recurve this season and I bought a 2-part quiver that straps onto the upper and lower limbs. But I was having trouble with the upper part sliding every time I put an arrow back in. SO I thought I would just connect the two parts, but I knew I needed to bend the wood and I had some scraps of poplar that were about 1/16" thick. With a scrap of 3/4" plywood and some epoxy it all came together.

My company is top shelf in the DMV. I've been preserving period furniture for many years. What you see in the pic of pieces is what I had to work with to restore the center piece of the settee.
I do turn bowls, pot calls for gifts and collectors.

Finally got around to putting some cherry on top of the half wall in front of our kitchen sink.
Bought some rough cut, planed it down and got it installed today. Wife is happy, honeydew list is caught up for the time being and now I've got time to shoot skeet on my day off. Win win for all.

Quick-ish project. One of my dad's clients runs a portable sawmill and gave me a big rough cut beam that was too short for his use. We needed a mantle so I planed it down with an old Stanley hand plane that I restored a while back and filled the large crack with black epoxy, then stained and polyurethaned it. Turned out pretty decent, my wife likes it, now I just have to do the stone around it...

Are you planning on a gas fireplace? Nice.

Got a little time on my days off this week to work on some more garage cabinets.
Carcass and face frame is together, as well as the doors and drawer boxes are ready for polyurethane.
Need to get some more poplar and glue some up for drawer fronts yet.

A couple deer treehouse furniture grade chairs made from scrap. Had to turn my air up to 120PSI to drive those nails through some of those oak 2X4's. lol

Keeping true to everything I built in 2022 and 2024 was built from my sawmill lumber I personally sawed.

Guitar build 2.0. After the telecaster builds i decided to try something a little harder that had arm and belly reliefs. Strats! Started with cutting down the trees on my property of course. This time I used full 2" slabs. The natural finish one is about the nicest 1 piece body you're gonna get in Black Ash. Lots of planing, band saw, and a ton of router work followed by endless sanding. The burgundy one was dyed with Keda powder dyes and black dyed grain filler. Both finished with 25 years old 2 part auto clear. I saw birds falling out of the sky from the toxic fumes as they flew over... I sprayed outside for my safety. Flame maple necks were ordered as blanks. One is roasted as you can see and I changed the fretboard radius and I installed stainless frets in that one. After feeling the difference between the 2 the natural one is going to get redone and radius changed. Water slide decals under the finish. They are as smooth as glass but all the reflection makes it look otherwise. I still need to put the back plate on the natural one received_3619207798400562.jpeg20231105_080212.jpg20231105_080241.jpg20231105_080249.jpg20231105_080258.jpg20231105_080426.jpg

My supply of black walnut I've been moving all over for the last 20 years has dwindled down to one last project. Haven't decided if I'll build a tray to hold the chess pieces in the storage area. Christmas present for the missus. View attachment 304502

I would be glad to replenish your black walnut. How much do you want?IMG_20221208_145323505.jpgIMG_20221208_145248234.jpgIMG_20221208_145225443.jpg
