Woodworking Hunt Talkers?

Woodworking never interested me one bit, but my grandfather loved it, visiting my mom this week. She told me it’s time to take some of my grandfathers stuff back home to MT , I think I’ll be taking these three items back with me

Just wanted to share some of gramps work with you guys
Wow! He was a talented guy. Happy to see that you have some of his pieces.

I was incorrect, the fancy table was made by my great grandfather who died in 1967 before I was born, mom thinks it was made in the 1940’s
And the Eagle and the fighting cocks was made by my grandfather

Here’s the reverse side of the table it’s not varnished like the other side

Maybe when I get back to Billings I can find someone local who can put the shine on it with a varnish coat ,

One more guitar build. Found a real nice Black Ash on my land and milled it up into slabs. This chunk had a crotch seam that was a perfect place for the arm bevel line. Neck is Wenge, that was a partial made item but i installed stainless frets and scratched out some deeper grain lines to use to get the blue grain filler in for a matched headstock look. I let a guy from work take it home for a week and he's really bugging me about buying it. It does play sweet1000002845.jpg1000002475.jpg1000002516.jpg1000002840.jpg1000002841.jpg

I built a wood rowboat a couple years ago and felt that an aluminum net didn't fit right. So I set out to learn to bend wood and make an appropriate boat net. It took over a year in my spare time and 6 tries to get it to the field testing stage. I learned a heck of a lot about what bends and how to to get it to work. Now to test with fish!

I am not. I have relatives who are. They give me things. I do not want the things. They ask me what I do with the things. I tell the truth. I move them around sometimes. It was here. Now it is over there. After some time I don't exactly know what happened to it.

I know generally what happened to it, just not exactly because it happens so often it all blends together, but the last time I fessed up someone got their feelers hurt.

Which reminds me to ask my tomboy wife how long she plans to store that cane pole some kid sold her in the corner of the living room.
