Winchester 1873 22 Short

I went to the Las Vegas Collectors show and found this gorgeous 1873 in 22 short. It didn't take long to beat the guy up and walk away with the rifle.

While I was walking down the aisle another dealer offered me $1,000.00 more than I paid for it. you don't find 1873 22 rifles in this condition with a good bore!

It shoots great as well. The target was 25 yards on a concrete bench, resting on my elbow. It is certainly a keeper!

That’s a cool gun.

We have my grandfather’s .22 short. He used to hunt squirrels with it. My dad said it killed a bunch of hogs that were about to go to slaughter.

Bad ass! I'm wondering why it is 22 short? Was that more popular at the time then 22 LR?
I just bought a new Win 1873 short rifle in 45 colt. Beautiful rifle but yours is made in America buy real live American craftsmen

Just the parts of your rifle collection I have seen in various posts is drool worthy…
