Interesting. The elk herd in that area is already down in numbers with a lot of elk wintering on golf courses and the like. It’s a shame because it’s darn good elk country if you can get over the fact that $10M mansions sit adjacent to your trailheads.
 
I dated a pretty girl once with whom I shared my goal of owning a cabin in the mountains someday, her response was "Yes! A place in Vail would be great!" It was a bit of a red flag, we didn't date much longer...
Smart man!
 
There is a Vail bighorn sheep conflict with an affordable housing project right now as well. It’s a private land development, however. Google will turn up many stories on the issue.
