I love the calling and decoying of birds. Specks are differently fun. The better you are on the call the better the hunt. Boy do they taste good.

I know it's controversial, but I have better luck if I brine spoonies. Maybe it's in my head but I gave my wife a blind taste test (in that I didn't tell her it was spoonie ) and she approved.

Great thread. Thanks for all the great photos. Goldeneyes are great looking but not so good eating. Like most , the teal family, pintails, Redheads, woodies , and drake mallards are all great. Still holding out for a canvasback. Not legal to hunt, but the Loon is cool also. Love to hear em.

My favorite is the farm raised one on my plate at a restaurant!

For the life of me, I've never been able to get the muddy taste out of Utah ducks. So I sadly stopped hunting them...
