What goes up...

Yesterday in Shreveport a Hot Air balloon went up into the air around 7:00 PM. as it floated above some homes, the folks were waving and talking to the Balloonists and the Balloon touched an Electric wire and caught the basket on fire! As people watched (some recorded) the people were engulfed by the flames, one jumped and the other crashed with the basket. What were supposedly experenced Pilots doing that low in a residential area at that time? Scratch that off my to-do list!

I saw that on the news this morning. Didn't really get me fired up to start the day. Unfortunate accident. When I was in Phoenix a year and half ago I was plenty nervous riding in a hot air ballon with a hell of a match attached to it.

As a former pilot and Aircraft mechanic, I will never go up in anything with out any form of directional control! People get killed in these things all the time!

UPDATE: I saw the video myself this evening, BAD. In this mornings paper I read that in the second Balloon was his brother and he had to watch it all unfold. It gets even weirder, the ex-husband of the woman who also lost her life was in Choir practice when this happened and as they came out the basket/balloon crashed 20 yards from his parked car! He asked police for names, as he recongnized the balloon, they said they could not release any names, but that if he asked the chase team they might tell him. As he walked over to them he saw his ex's son breaking down and then he knew that it was indeed his ex-wife. John

Sad day for those folks....

I had a surprise balloon trip scheduled for me and the Mrs. as an anniversary present YEARS ago. Three weeks before the trip we were down on the Sac fishing and here comes "our" balloon floating above the river- Mrs. looks at me and says "you'd never get me into one of those...those folks are idiots!"

...at least he gave me the deposit back

Well,i prob am to much of a feared person to go up high becouse lat time i was young i baout fell out, i wa son what they called the spider it reached above some very tall trees,anymore i just had trouble and i odnt have a urge to go up real high plus i odnt mean to ofend anyone but i think alot of that chit is suicedal, i mean a gal and her mate went sky diving i htink anyway she couldnt get her safety ballon as i call it so she turned with the speed she internally screwed up some tissue,and some organs and lucky to be alive,her dumbass went back, i know u try go face ur fears so that means i should go and face my tiwster again and die the second time lucky for me her to be alive for first time me and this gal i mean in this story

Thats just messed up. I saw the news this morning also but they didn't show much about it. I guess if it isn't close to Chicago, I wont get nothing but higlights about it.
