What are your 2025 Hunting Plans

ID Muzzleloader elk tag, late season
ID General deer
Extra whitetail doe tag
Sage grouse (done)
Snake river duck hunting and beaver trapping

(Sort of in order)
ID mountain goat (daughter's tag)
ID archery gen deer (semi-serious...have a few interesting bucks hanging around near me that I'll try for if they hang around)
UT rifle cow elk (burned points due to price increase)
ID deer (twin daughters and wife)
UT rifle gen deer with buddies (burned points due to price increase)
ID cow elk (controlled hunt for me...2nd draw success)
ID cow elk late draw tag for sister-in-law's first hunt
(maybe) MO youth deer on a recent property acquisition
UT rifle doe antelope
NM aoudad
ID mountain lions (friends/family probably will not kill any this year, just run them)
Mixed in with local bird hunting

Obviously the main tag is the goat tag...if she fills that, the rest are bonuses. Our family eats a ton of meat.
Third hunt also turned out well. I took my 11-year-old and we had a good experience in Utah. We worked our way into some bugling bulls, pulled in a big one, then about 40+ elk came running into us. Screenshot_20251006-160344.png

2025 SEASON

NM OTC Bear (already been out twice, no luck. Headed back out for a few days next week)

Good luck to all!

Who are you going with ?

Ontario Whitetail and Bear (personally)
Ontario Antlered Elk (buddy drew the tag)
I got denied at the border and burnt my Arizona points

US Customs wanted to go through my phone and labtop. They wanted to check my contacts, emails and social media
Damn! You must have been a bad boy somewhere. Never heard of that before, but I don't get out much.

It’s been an issue on the northern border for a few months now. Which is one of the many reasons tourism has dropped

Lots of friends and family crossing back and forth from Canada without issues. Guessing there’s more to the story…

Yes, many Canadians report being subjected to increased harassment and scrutiny at the U.S. border, including detention, electronic device searches, and aggressive questioning, leading to a decline in tourism and a federal travel advisory advising travellers to expect these heightened circumstances. While some U.S. immigration lawyers suggest these cases are exceptions, the consistent reports and official warnings from the Canadian government indicate a notable rise in negative border-crossing experiences.

Common Issues Faced by Canadians at the U.S. Border:
    • Detention and Denied Entry:
Canadians have been detained in immigration centers for extended periods, facing unexpected denials of entry and being held until they arrange deportation flights.
    • Digital Device Searches:
There's been a significant increase in searches of smartphones and other electronic devices, raising privacy concerns.
    • Intensified Questioning:
Travellers report being interrogated more aggressively, sometimes with unclear reasons, leading to feelings of being targeted.
    • Aggressive Behaviour from Officers:
Some travellers describe rude and hostile interactions with border officials, including shouting and dismissive behaviour.
    • Fear and Anxiety:
The heightened scrutiny and negative experiences have created widespread fear and anxiety among Canadians, causing many to avoid travelling to the U.S.
Why This is Happening:
    • Increased Scrutiny:
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has a rising number of searches, potentially leading to increased instances of detention and questioning.
    • Growing Political Tensions:
Rising political tensions between the two countries have coincided with an increase in reported issues.
    • Unclear Reasons for Scrutiny:
It is difficult to predict why certain individuals are targeted for harsher scrutiny, with some lawyers noting that the reasons are not transparent.

Crazy, you seem so very friendly to the US based off your posts!

Interesting! I had about 30 seconds at the border this summer on a fishing trip, the conversation took 4 or 5 words, a smile and I was on my way north with the boat. Nothing else. Same way coming back in to the US.

If they wanted to look through your social media, did you let them? Seems intrusive, but i also don't know squat about traveling in to the US as a non citizen.

Well, sorry about that. That's something that we don’t hear about. I guess the news is busy talking about all of the other crap going on.

We've had some great luck for the season so far. The 4th hunt was a success. I took my twins out on their either sex deer tags and they each scored their first deer.
We battled wet, cold, wind and fog, and did a lot of hiking, but they stuck with it until right before dark when the second twin killed hers.Screenshot_20251013-110917.pngScreenshot_20251013-110935.png
