What about Alice Pack Frames

Hey Gang, Does anyone use a Army Surplus Alice Pack Frame for packing out meat? Your thoughts would be appreciated. John

Though I've only tried on an ALICE frame in a surplus store with weight it in, I'd say you'd be money and misery ahead to get a pack with a much better suspension. Kelty and/or Camp Trails pack frames are a LOT of pack for the very modest asking price.

PS- Must mention that packs are not something I'm willing to skimp on. The cost of something from an outfit like Mystery Ranch or Kifaru is probably the best money you can spend for hunting behind boots...

I have mostly either Humped it out by our lonesomes, hung it on our horses and we used a Game cart for 2 of the 3 elk last year. I purchased a game cart for this year, but they can't be used in some areas where elk like end up taking the long snooze. John

I still use an ALICE pack now and then. It's not state of the art but is better than what you will find in the 'marts'. The padded kidney belt is well worth the extra $$

I just got a new "Rigg-Itt" frame from Blacks Creek. It is an internal design pack frame.
I wrote a quick review over at Monster Muleys, very good suspention system, very adjustable.
What you will see in my photo's is the Rigg-Itt with a small day bag & sleeping bag attached.
