Well this is new to me

This morning my buddy and I were supposed to meet at a public hunting ground not too far from where we work. Gun deer rifle season is open. I show up there about 40 minutes before shooting light and it would not have been uncommon for there to be a truck already there but what I found was a Uhaul and 4 rental SUV's with 10 young guys getting dressed head to toe in Kuiu and Firstlite. They are from Montana and when I asked them what brought them to WI they said the deer hunting sucks there and they read that the county I live in has a lot of big whitetails.

I'm guessing they are sleeping in the Uhaul or at least some of them? 10 guys seems like a lot but it was a pretty big uhaul

I actually give them some level of props. There are a lot of areas of the state i would think it would be hard to get a public land whitetail. The public they chose and a few others around here are a solid choice to get it done. Just wrong time of year

99% chance they all shoot sub 80 bucks and get their full fill of does. Its gun deer season in WI, mostly its forkies and chicken bone bucks running around, especially on public. The big bucks have found their safe bedding to rest after a long hard rut.

I own a small farm in central KY. We have big whitetails. Over the last 10 years outfitters have leased up everything around me! Lots of out of state license plates during deer and turkey season. Sucks for me but I cant blame landowners for making money on poor, rocky hillside land.
