Not a week after typing this town has been sucked dry, and is in grave danger - I get this news from my cousin in Texas?!!!

I would say we are paying Ft Collins educators way to good of money to kill America.

And for your viewing pleasure - loved this!

Mr. Eversole (principal of FCHS),

It is with dismay that I have read a Fox News Internet article tonight
that your school has rejected students' request to conduct a Spirit Week
honoring America.

Why? What are you thinking?

Have we become so politically correct that we will disavow our own
nation and its heritage for fear of offending those that have come here
to partake of its blessings? If they don't like it then let them return
to the places from where they came.

Our country is in great danger from those who would sell their very
souls to change and color the truth of our rich, historical past, warts
and all. I will fight you every step of the way. Perhaps it is time to
send you packing - looking for new jobs - in places far!

I encourage you to reconsider your decision.

Just when you think you've seen it all and it can't get much worse. Seriously, these administrators need to be dismissed from their positions. Surely there is a school board that they report to. The School board should take action or the local residents and parents should elect a new school board. We send troops all over the world to keep peace and defend our country, and we can't defend our own kids and their pride in their country? and because someone's feelings may get hurt,..? Nobody is forcing the Non-American kids to enjoy the free education that is mostly paid for by all tax paying workers and residents that pay property taxes. Sad.

Doesn't Mr. Eversole work for the school board?

The Board of Education is the elected body that sets policy and governance for the school district, its 25,000 students and 3500 employees. Board Directors are voted on at large. Eligible electors of the school district vote for one candidate from each director district that is open during the general election.

This reminds me of when I was in grade school. We had one Jehovah Witness kid in our class who wasn't allowed to have candy or celebrate parties, etc. So he went to the hallway whenever we had one...according to these idiots we should have just not had a party or celebration because one person wasn't allowed to because of a different belief. Not trying to compare religion and this, but I thought the analogy was somewhat useful.

They wanted to call it "Merica Monday", how respectful of country is that? I would have told them to try again too.

"ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."

What got me going was the fact that they were required to celebrate cinco de mayo.....

Then you sir, do not get it! Around here we (deployed Soldiers) use the term "Merica" a lot. It is a kind of down home, John Wayne, back woods, way of saying "America". Besides, the school did not reject the word, they rejected the day being set aside to represent pride in America only. If they had said that's fine but we are going to call it "America"…….no issue. That is not what they said.

Anyhow, below is the e-mail that I sent to the principal.

Hello, my name is MSG Raymond White. I am and "American Soldier" currently deployed to Afghanistan. I read a report about how your school would not allow your student body to designate Monday, of your spirit week as "Merica day" and dress up in patriotic attire. The reason given (in the report) was because you didn't want to make the kids from other countries feel "uncomfortable". You and your entire staff should be ashamed of yourselves!

Part of my mission here is to train the Afghan National Army (Special Forces in particular) in military tactics so that they will be able to sustain the government of Afghanistan after we are gone. A huge and integral part of that is instilling a pride in the people for "Afghanistan" as a country. Until you have a deep, abiding love and pride for your country, you will not be willing to protect that country at all cost. I am glad when I see people of this country display patriotism for Afghanistan……..I'm not offended. I have that kind of Love and Pride for my country which is why I am willing to pay any price to protect it.

Political correctness in the United States has run amuck. You are feeding into that! I urge you to think about your decision. Why should we ever be ashamed to be proud or our country and what we stand for. As Abraham Lincoln said, "you can please all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time". At the end of the day, you need to have pride in the decisions you make and why you made them. If you have pride in this decision, I question your patriotism!

Sincerely,
Ray

DAMN STRAIGHT RAY! GOD BLESS YOU, US AND THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

Hope some of the big politicos on here will raise some good hell for the cause too!

I'm with you Ray I would've had them change it to America. I've just never heard the term "Merica" used in a way that was very respectful. Clearly that's not the way you guys use it.

I think the attorney general E. Holder came to town and provided our folks with this :

'Apparently, the decision regarding Merica Day received local and national media attention. Unfortunately, the administrations' intentions have been misinterpreted as not being patriotic. Surprised that the community and students interpreted these actions as anti-American.'

That is one spineless Principal. The sad thing is he is probably right about offending students from other countries. The real sad thing is our lack of enforcing immigration laws is the reason why there is so many students who would be offended.
