I walked in on a fairly healthy weed grow patch while fishing a creek for smallmouth. Eased back out of there real quick.
Not really in the wood, but one time when I was working in St Paul someone for some reason drove their car down a park bike trail, and inexplicably turned off the bike trail and went straight down a steep hill into the brush. The tire had broke off the axel.
They took the spare out of the trunk and it looked like they made a very half hearted attempt to change it, even tho it wouldn’t have made any difference since the wheel was fully broken off.
The most depressing part was all these kids blankets, stuff animals, coloring books they pulled out of the trunk and threw on the ground to get the spare out, which were all now getting soaked and ruined in a pouring rain.

Probably had stashes all over. The bundle we found hanging in a tree was in a very obscure location. Made no sense to belong to anyone else. Clearly had been hanging for many years. The contents were pretty rank from use, still reeked of body odor. I know they were operating in the area, accounts of them raiding cabins for food in the Canyon once they became fugitives.
Maybe conjecture, there wasn't any name tags or such.

I forgot to mention the weirdest thing I ever ran across. To get to my favorite canoeing and fishing spot I had to carry the canoe across the railroad tracks to get to the launching spot. One day as I crossed the tracks I see a dog leash, a pair of safety goggles and a huge anatomically correct dildo laying on the ground.
My first thought was that "I just don't want to know." My next thought was how unfortunate it was that my fishing partner that day was my 12-year-old daughter.

Yep, if I remember correctly, a rancher spotted a campfire up above the Madison River North of the Beartrap.

Yes. I was told it was on the Cold Springs Ranch up that draw to the north of the river at the bridge.

Hunting north of here I sat on a draw with a seep at the head. 2 hrs glassing and waiting. I finally stood and of course the bull left...I swore and walked up the draw.
I had noticed what looked like sandstone covering an acre or so. I knew what it was as I walked in. Pottery shards. Thousands of pieces of broken pottery. Black on white. Anasazi. The Ancient Ones.
I kept a few and walked out in the dark.
The next day I found a shed of that bull and the stone ruins of a Spanish Rancho, rebuilt over the years with adobe and more stone. In front was a graveyard. A small hand wrought fence around it. Names on the gate said Baca & Garcia. 1760....in rust.
A dozen other headstones outside the original site. The newest and smallest said Smith/Baca 1853, a child.
They gave it a go.

I've found parts of an airplane waaayy off in the middle of nowhere in the hills between white sands, and the florida mountains, teepee rings there too. One time while diving in a large florida blue spring i found some deer bones, one was a femur that had been burned and snapped open, the other was out of the front leg but you could see the nicks and scratches from what I presume were some sort of stone tool.

Last year in Alaska I was flown in and dropped off solo , first time in the bush . I hiked up the mountain and was looking out at the view while thinking I could be the only person to stand right here , ever .
Then I looked down at my feet and there was a dime that someone had placed on a rock ledge and it had been there a while , partially covered by dirt . I didn't think it had fallen there , out of a pocket , it looked deliberate .
Made me laugh at how silly I was , thinking I was the first to be there .

Not weird, but I've always wondered who the fck hauls a washing machine, fridge or stove 5 miles into the bush, away from any trails, and dumps it?!?!

I know I loved going to Pirate's Cove when I was young and hung. Maybe old Francis was using his spyglass to check things out.
