I can't speak to the Diamondback 8x42, but I have used the 10x42 for two seasons and really like them. For the money they hit above their weight...
Diamondbacks are made in China. Nikons made in Japan. If all else is equal, I prefer to NOT support China.
Sure about that?. Most Nikon binoculars are made in China. I would bet any Nikon binoculars or rifle scope that is priced under $700 is in fact made in China or has glass sourced from thereat a minimum. Even Kowa binos except for their top model is made in China.

The Vortex Viper and Razors are made in Japan, so I'd go with those over the Diamondbacks.

So you're saying you are concerned with country of origin over optical quality? Nothing wrong with that, just that it would be the opposite for many.
