Had grilled heart this weekend. Just marinated it using whatever was around camp and grilled it next to the liver, bacon wrapped backstraps and a couple of pork tenderloins to make the meat last for 6 guys. First time with heart and won't be the last. Good stuff.
I've always wanted to try venison heart but never have, well until tonight. Sunday my neighbor harvested a WT doe and with this thread fresh in my mind while I gave him a hand I kept the heart. I can't believe after 30 yrs of deer hunting I'm just now figuring out .....what a idiot leaving all those hearts lay for the yotes to enjoy. I just marinade it and grilled. Wow! That won't be my last! Sorry no fancy pics like JR.

A few years back I sliced up an antelope heart and pickled it...very tasty!

John how about Idaho next October? We could have two cooks in camp and as luck would have it, our cook (brother) is named John. So we could have Big John and Little John (last name really is Little). Would be nice to have another standing by in case one John happened to have one too many?
I'm always up for a road trip
