Valid concern or paranoia?

The shoplifting cameras vs flock etc is a really poor comparison. Far more concern and capability for malfeasance with the latter.

If the shooting range camera was a flock one, all kinds of people other than the range itself would have access to its data.

Would you feel the same if the range camera was accessed by anti gun forces?
No. It is a perfectly fine comparison, it’s just that people can’t seem to agree on what they are arguing. Flock is a company that makes cameras. Any company can buy flock cameras, but they don’t have access to the vehicle registration database. The images captured by those cameras are owned by the company that purchased the camera and get deleted after a specific time period.

Why would a gun range sell that data to an anti-gun force? Most people are arguing against how the data might be used. “Might” arguments never result in solutions to problems. The anti-gun group would argue we shouldn’t have firearms because we might walk into a public place and start shooting. Arguing what “might happen” is a rabbit hole to nowhere. And people need to understand they have a shit-ton of data out there will very little regulation around how it can be used and by whom. But keep building those data centers…

So where do you draw the line? Public Safety cancelling 2A?
Well if you live in Colorado, 2A is quickly being eroded……once the General Assembly gets back in session they will get to stripping away what’s left of firearm ownership; along with free speech, private property rights, and various other liberties. Maybe even confirm the anti-hunting activists that make up the majority of the wildlife commission. Let’s hope not.

There is a couple posts around this sight lately that demonstrate why age limitations should be implemented right along with term limits. Of course as long as money is at play none of that really matters anyway. Back to packing for a week long fishing trip with the family....
For a second I thought you were suggesting age limits for Hunttalk members.

It was my impression that they’re not supposed to be collecting data from public roads in MT. That whole principal of having a choice to enter a private space or not.

I looked up the roads @ that Lowes on Google Maps. Turns out what I was calling public roads are probably part of the Lowes and surrounding properties. I figured they were public from the volume of traffic using them to access roads nearby and multiple other properties in the vicinity. So technically not public space surveillance.

This thread is about flock cameras. Lowe’s has them, Home Depot doesn’t. Thought I made that pretty clear in the previous post.
I am surprised Home Depot wouldn't have them as well.

Does The Home Depot grant federal law enforcement access to license plate reader information?

Like many retailers, we use license plate readers in our parking lots. These cameras are used for the purpose of detecting and preventing theft and protecting the safety of our customers and associates. We do not grant access to our license plate readers to federal law enforcement.

I can’t wait until people realize what kind of data the credit card companies have. They know what you buy and where you buy it.

Only if you use a card. Which not using it in this day in age is about as practical advice as vote for people who care. Just saying.

I needed a couple tools and miscellaneous stuff today. I wanted to go to Lowe’s, but went to Home Depot instead. I will no longer be shopping at Lowe’s. Enough is enough. I really like Scheels, but I’m going to try to stay out of there too.

They are everywhere. Look up DeFlock and it’ll show em all and where they’re facing. even just main roads like King Ave…..

Need every man, woman and child to start wearing a Guy Faux mask now while in transit…

I'll be on roughly 19 cameras to and from work tomorrow...
