UTV Riders want trails in Fish Creek WMA acquired from TNC

Fish Creek WMA was acquired from TNC in 2013 for creation of a WMA.

Then FWP carved out a chunk to make a state park.

Now motorized interest groups want more roads- at last 500 signatures on a petition from the UTV crowd.

Which makes me wonder- why even bother calling this a WMA if wildlife seem to be an afterthought?

I might just need to go for a walk, but this really got my hackles up this morning.

Fish Creek working group proposes road, trail options

A working group started laying out their desires for what trails and roads they want to see in the Fish Creek State Park and Wildlife Management Area.

I try to not be so pessimistic but kinda figured Fish Creek wildlife would get the shaft when Kerry White / Citizens for Balanced Use started raising a stink about the lack of OHV access in the Fish Creek Strategy process back in 2023.

Never have figured out why folks feel so entitled to be able to ride what they want wherever they want.

They spent money on their hobby, so it’s their right to use that toy wherever they feel like, impacts be damned. Same reasoning as wakeboats.
