Utah Muzzleloader Spike Elk Hunt

Good Morning,

This year I decided to try something different and buy a muzzleloader spike tag in Utah. The hunt starts on November 1 and I managed to find a few days to hunt elk with my muzzleloader.

My question to the forum is will spike elk be with cow elk during that time of year? Will they be hanging out with the bulls or will they be by themselves.

I have seen them with cows during the Utah Muzzy hunt.

I've seen spikes with cows all the way through winter.

I have almost always seen them with the cows. I hunt the open bull portion of the general Utah muzzy season. It is getting more and more crowded every year, but I have enjoyed it. Despite what many will say, the elk will still respond to some calling. Have fun.
