USPS

So here we go again. Informed Delivery shows my new Medicare Part D in mail for tonight, several cards and Express Scripts. The Express Scripts was delivered but nothing else. So the question is now, was she late and wanted Friday night off early? Delivered wrong mailbox? Deliver tomorrow? Or never? My experience is usually never. Carriers are contract and don't give a flying fornication on delivering mail, hell prob is in a ditch somewhere. Why in hell are there contract drivers delivering mail? I am sure they are religiously vetted. This is utter 🐂💩 that time and time again stuff doesn't get delivered. No way to report it.

Report to the postmaster at the distribution center your mail comes from. We have a contract mail guy also. We only get mail Tuesday and Friday being really remote. The delivery guy works for the Contractor that has several routes and several delivery people. Complaints to the postmaster at the distribution center go directly to the contractor that loses the contract if there's too many complaints. There's a definite chain of command.

USPS is only good at delivering truck loads of mail in ballots

Man, i sure am glad my mail people aren't like yours. My mailman showed up at nine o'clock last night to deliver a package down my quarter of a mile driveway. It was only -2F and no wind, so not exactly a killer of a day, but still, I get my mail, and I get my packages every day. Tomorrow, the wind chills should reach -35F. Anyone justice is dependable back in Iowa.

Same as @BrentD. I feel for you that your local USPS sucks so bad.

Contrary to your experiences, here in NW MT I’ve had a few packages this week and last delivered a few days early. Same with Fed Ex and UPS. Even during inclement weather.

Blaming it on immigrants and worn out election conspiracy theories is laughable at best.

I do feel for you guys that have so much trouble.

We live quite rural. No local post office.

We rely heavily on UPS, USPS and FEDEX for all kinds of things.

We had one hangup this week, a Christmas gift arrived, 1 day late by UPS. Not sure what that was about. No big deal.

Our mail is also contract. Aside from her just getting here early afternoon most times, no real complaints.

Meds come from either SLC over night FEDEX, and they get here by 10 AM, or they come from the town 50 miles away, and get here next day.

All kinds of different people, men, women, black, Hispanic. They all just seem to want to work and do a good job.

Merry Christmas.

You need one of those illegal immigrant deliverers that was mentioned above. They would have been done by 4 PM.
Unmatchable work ethic

I suppose. The guy that delivered the package at nine p m last night delivered another package at eleven this morning.

Complaining about delivery companies is sort of like complaining about airlines. It seems everyone on the internet has a horror story. Each one with a different actor playing the part of the bad guy. I only have airline stories, though. Delivery companies have not given me any plot material to work with.

Interesting takes from some.
I look more at the hack politicians that have used a public service as a political football for far too long. Not an immigrant who’s trying to work an honest job. I’m sure you or all your family members picked up English lickity split when they came to the USA. My Korean War vet grandpa, a third generation American, spoke German in the nursing home until the day he died last October at almost 97 years old. Never bothered me much… it’s a big world.

Sorry about the service.
USPS has been privatized and defunded.
Much like the FS & BLM.

How many companies do you have to buy all your pension at once.

I had a rural box but could not drive the 2 miles half the year. Bad dirt road.
Got a PO box farther but has stuff there.

UPS can barely make one delivery a week. They dump the packages at not my PO and say it was delivered.
My postmistress told me to add an address at bottom and she will get it from the other PO. Apt. 1 87829

Since UPS uses Elonias mapping system and can't find my address...................
To the MOON Ethel!!!
Similar and I’m not particularly rural. USPS is dramatically better for me than UPS or FedEx. Although, my PO Box is in a town 12 miles away. The post office in my town is rarely open, and unreliable, so I rent a box in a larger town that I drive through most days anyway. I don’t mind. The former and current post masters have been quite good, as have the majority of the workers behind the counter. I’m always upset when someone will only ship UPS or FedEx because my experience has been so much worse.

Louis Dejoys five year tenure and implementation of his "Delivering for America" plan has been an absolute disaster, especially for rural Americans. Incredibly, both sides of the aisle are in agreement. Dejoy got absolutely grilled by Congress and then covered his ears like a child. Look it up.

In trying to run it "like a business" he destroyed the service level provided. A sevice level that is mandated by laws. In Wyoming, had his his plan been implemented, there were places where sending a letter a short distance would have involved a letter going to Billings, then Salt Lake, then Denver, then getting to its destination. And that if everything worked "right" and things weren't delayed in any of those notorious bottlenecks in the big cities.

Furthermore, by trying to or in some cases being successful at eliminating outgoing mail processing at so many of the smaller P&DCs like Cheyenne and Casper, or for that matter Hays KS, North Platte NE, Grand Junction, CO Springs etc they created incredible bottlenecks at the new flashy RPDC's. These places already had significant issues. Look at places like Atlanta GA, Kansas City, Indianapolis. These are the places where Dejoys plan was actually implemented or just partly implemented and it has been a cluster of massive proportions. Indianapolis is another. It's all over the news in those places. Mail piled up and no one to work it because they can't hire enough people. Low starting wages, shit working conditions for your first several years (lots of people don't want to work 60 hours a week with 8hrs off between shifts not on their own volition) coupled with high cost of living in places like Denver etc. and here we are.

I tell you this with many years experience in the service. If the DOGE email had gone out to USPS, mine would have been unanswered as I have spent 5 of the last 6 days in the hospital with my wife and newborn child. But, had I been able to respond, it would have said something like.

1. Performed preventative and operational maintenance of two letter sorting machines that process an average of 300+ thousand pieces per day. One of which (my primary responsibility) has consistently been top 10 in the nation in lowest "at risk mailpieces" out of 188 sites that process outgoing letters .

2. Performed daily maintenance on BDS system that keeps anthrax out of all Americans mail.

3. Crossed craft in violation of contract to operate machines that I am not supposed to operate because of lack of staffing in operations.

4. Enough said.
Seems like Musk would likely have applauded you whether he is drugged out or sober.

She knows me on sight and just tries to whitewash the situation. So taking it to congressional rep. I am asking for audit. This is a year round issue and not seasonal. When mail is delivered 8PM it is why in hell so late? I have a mail box transponder installed so I know exactly when it's delivered. This PO has been identified as one of the worse in southern MI. But yet NOTHING is done to fix the problems. Carriers lie about deliveries, documented, PO PM agreed it was lie and will talk to carrier. Carrier doesn't want to deliver package cause late so leave couldn't because we were not home? As we watched her put note in mailbox? WTF? Maybe no cookies in morning? This is same BS everywhere. Nobody is asking for anything extraordinary, just do your job. Simple.

Rural post office are overwhelmed by amazon packages. Amazon does not have any delivery system, other than a post office, whatsoever in many rural areas. That's the reason they're delivering late into the evening. I do not have a problem with that.

In ours, lack of carriers results in splitting routes so some are doing basically 1.5 routes. Carriers deliver packages first and don't care about delivering mail because its faster and parcels are delivered. Flat mail takes back seat.

Here, they make sure the flat mail is delivered first. Then, they go back and do packages into the evening.

I think delivery issues are universal across the services. A couple of years ago, I came home from work to find a rifle from Jon Beanland laying on my front steps, courtesy of FedEx. I am pretty sure it had been sent signature required. Luckily, the neighborhood porch pirates had not made their rounds yet. 😡
