So I recently picked up a Gerber Vital. Never used a scalpel blade knife before. Hopefully we'll see this fall. I love the blade change mechanism as compared to the Havalon, but I'm concerned about usable blade length. The blade "holder" that makes it so easy and safe to change blades also takes up a lot of real estate on the blade itself. Like a good 1/3 to 1/2 of the blade seems unusable (even though the knife edge does protude below the holder s little but). Any issues? Is a Havalon more usable?
