Wanted to make my brother (and best hunting partner) something for his birthday. Started on this over two years ago, but now that I am retired, no excuses. Got it knocked out. The sheath is out of dad's bag of elk and deer he tanned. The blade is store bought, scales are some nasty SA hardwood I had in a box.

Very nice. I like the shape of that. Looks like it would work quite well. What kinda of steel?

Sad to say... it is stainless. Somebody gave me the blank. I have a couple of old files I have been grinding on over the years. Thinking those will be winter projects. The scales gave me fits once I rough-cut them to shape. I didn't use any power tools after that. A lot.... of filing and sanding. I had two re-dos on the stitching mainly because I haven't messed with leather for 30+ years. But, brother is happy with it and has already put a better edge on it enough we know it won't hold for long once it is used.

Good job. What kind of steel did you use?
